The annual Finnish National Championships of Car Stereo, organized by EMMA Finland, took place for the first time at the Lahti Sports and Fair Centre on September 14-15, 2024. The event was a resounding success, leaving both participants and spectators eagerly anticipating next year’s finals.
EMMA Finland Chairman Toni Suhonen expressed his satisfaction with the event: “We listened to the competitors’ feedback when selecting a new venue for the finals. The Lahti Exhibition Center was warmly welcomed by both organizers and competitors. We are grateful to our sponsors for making our dream a reality.”
Sixty competitors battled for the championship title in a spacious 3,875 m² hall, vying for spots in the European Championship finals. The event featured a vibrant program, including a dance group performance to music from the Henry Varha’s Heavy Van and later children’s showcases of the new Olympic sport, breaking.
Saturday’s highlights included ESQL performances and sound pressure measurements in various classes. A standout moment was Team Rautama’s VW Transporter, which surprised everyone with a drum solo by Joni Hirvonen’s son @heavy_joona.
The evening concluded with a delightful Gala at the charming downtown restaurant, Opiston Kunkku.
Sunday featured special national events: Best of Sound and Best of Install. SQ winner Janne Aaltonen and Installation winner Henri Ylönen showcased their talents, promising to make waves in Europe.
“The Finnish team has excelled in recent years, standing alongside the great car hi-fi nations like Italy, Germany, Austria, and England. We hope to see competitors from other countries, such as the Baltics and Scandinavia, at our event. The Finnish team has earned respect from their European colleagues, with our judges invited often to European events. Recently, Tommy Hakola and Vesa Koskinen judged 46 cars at the Swedish Nationals across various classes. Both scored within 7 points of each other in the same class they judged,” said Suhonen.
“Many people are inspired to enhance their car’s sound system after the finals. The European Championship will be thrilling once again. See you in Salzburg on May 16-18, 2025, or perhaps at the Finnish Nationals on September 19-21, 2025,” Suhonen added.
