News from Finland

The season is off to a good start in Finland. The first sound off was already on May 3rd. It was the earliest season kick off that we’ve had in years and you could tell that from the weather. The competitors had to scrape ice from their car’s windows in the morning and as soon as the trophy ceremony was over it started snowing. Anyway everything went well despite new rules, new judges and new head judges. Gladfully there were also some new competitors joining in. Most of the cars hadn’t changed much since last year and the ones that had were still mostly “work in progress”. The results are available here and some pictures here.

On May 31st it was the time for the second round of sound off’s in Finland. This time the weather was on our side and the rain didn’t start until we were about to start judging ESQL for the first time in Finland. The audience enjoyed the sight of judges standing in the rain listening to the competitor’s car. Of course most of the audience and the car in question were under the EMMA tent for as long as it rained. Otherwise everything went well and there were also some new competitors starting and also some audience present through the whole day. The results can be found here and some pictures here and here.

Also we’ve trained a few new judges since the first judge training. We wanted to give those old judges a possibility to join the judge team that weren’t able to participate in the first training. The training was similiar to the one held earlier. Now the total count of EMMA judges in Finland is 25.
